  • A simple binary converter website was able to decrypt the binary encoded text into readable text

Solution:

base32 is super common in CTF;s
  • With the = at the end of the ciphertext, I knew that it was related to either base32 or base64. Decode.fr’s cipher identifier gave the results for base32. I used the base32 decoder from the same website which provided me with the plaintext.

Solution:

Each Base64 digit represents exactly 6 bits of data.
  • Since the “==” appended at the end of the string gave me a feeling that this was base64. The base64 decoder from decode.fr led me to the answer.

  • I recognized that this was hexadecimal, so I used the decoder from the same website for this.

  • I could tell that this was the Caesar cipher that was taught in both the WCSC meeting and in my hands on cybersecurity class.

  • I have no idea what cipher this was so I used the cipher identifier and discovered that this is a ROT-47 encrypted ciphertext. It is a shift cipher like the Caesar cipher that shifts all text 47 positions after a conversion table.

Let's make this a bit trickier...
  • This one was tough. I noticed the ‘=’ at the end of the code which made me think of Base64. The result was Morse code that I decrypted into binary. I used the binary decoder by cryptii.com I inserted the results back into the cipher identifier and found that it was ROT-47. The results resembles decimal so I used cryptii.com to decode it into the text

  • I was lost until I searched image stenography decoder which led me to the website futureboy.us and used their image decoder by uploading the .jpg image and obtaining the text

Solution 1: Using a website to string the image file
The file was uploaded to a website that gives the string of the image with the two hidden texts
Soltuion 2: Using the string command in linux
If you download the image and string the image itself, it will return the two hidden texts at the very bottom of the terminal
